Celebrating World Book Day 2024

To celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 7 March, we’ve got some exciting events planned here at University Library and Collections!

Global Week Human Library

As part of the Global Week 2024 programme of activities, the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Unit and the University Library and Collections (ULC) Department will be running a Human Library, which is designed to build a positive interaction and safe space for conversation between readers and a ‘human book’.

Christmas Wish Tree campaign supports charities in the local community

Our students and staff are helping to make Christmas wishes come true for local families, by donating hundreds of gifts and raising over £600 for local charities, through the annual Christmas Wish Tree campaign.

We are inviting international students and staff to take part as a “human books” in our Human Library event as part of Durham Global Week.

Winter vacation opening times

From Saturday 9 December until Tuesday 2 January 2024, vacation opening times for our libraries and study spaces will apply, with some closures between Christmas and New Year. 24/7 opening at Bill Bryson Library will run until 10pm on Friday 8 December.
